How to Recognize When You’re Being Deceived on Your First Date by Vivienne Diane Neal

When a person shows you who he is, believe him the first time; don’t be fooled by his drop-dead gorgeous features, his way with words, and his dress to kill apparel, and the first topic of discussion is money. However, you ignore this sign because it’s love at first sight, and you want to see him again.

On the second date, you are slowly being played by a master manipulator. He invites you to his place for dinner and will make you a memorable meal. The food is most likely frozen dinners, and all he has to do is heat it and serve it. And this where you should you recognize that this relationship is doomed right from the start when he gives you a sob story that he lost his job and will ask if you could lend him money to help pay his rent until he finds another job.

Yet, the biggest shocker is when he asks you to co-sign for a car after knowing him for only one month. You give him the money because you feel sorry for him, have fallen hard for the man and see the two of you living happily ever after. But when you ask for the money back several weeks later, he tells you the monies were gifts. This means you will never see your money unless you take him to court; if you didn’t have him sign a promissory note, most likely you can say goodbye to your money unless you receive a text message saying he borrowed or owes you the money. He will never admit he owes you any money.

Now, this is where the con artist can trip himself up when he refuses to reply to your text messages, demanding he pays you back. Most judges will ask, “If this was a gift, why didn’t you reply to the woman’s message and say, “I don’t know what you’re talking about; the monies were gifts.” This doesn’t mean the borrower is completely off the hook. So make certain you save all messages sent to the borrower as evidence if you decide to take him to civil court. Or better yet, have him sign a promissory note before the cash leaves your hand; it doesn’t have to be formal. You can write it on a piece of toilet paper and make certain you both sign the note. If he refuses to sign the IOUs, you will never see him again.

Tips For Couples When Choosing A Mattress by McKenzie Dillon

Choosing a mattress you’ll love for the next 8+ years can be stressful enough, let alone finding one to accommodate two people. When couples are in search of their perfect mattress, you want to make sure you follow these three rules so you make sure neither you, nor your significant other is sacrificing any sleep.

1.) Find An Appropriate Firmness Level
You always want to take your sleeper type into consideration when you’re shopping for a new mattress, and it isn’t any different when you’re searching for a mattress to share with a loved one. If you and your partner have the same sleeper type, you’re in luck — you just have to find something that caters to your sleeping position.

Side sleepers should consider something soft to cradle their pressure points, while back and stomach sleepers will sleep more comfortably on a firmer mattress that keeps their spine in neutral alignment. Combo sleepers can either choose a firmness level based on their dominant sleeping position, or go for something in the middle.

If you have a different sleeper type than your partner, which is highly likely, try to do what combo sleepers do and find something around a “medium” firmness level. They tend to be the sweet spot between supportive, but also pressure relieving. Keep in mind, there are plenty of mail order mattresses online that come with free trial periods, so you can return your bed and get 100% of your money back if you or your significant other don’t your new bed.

2.) Make Sure It Has Good Edge Support
Another key bed characteristic a couple should look for in a mattress is good edge support. If you don’t know what edge support is — think back on a time where you were pushed to the edge of the mattress because of your bed hogging significant other. Did it feel like you were going to roll off the side, or did it feel sturdy and supportive? Hopefully it was the latter, which means the bed had good edge support. The entire perimeter of the mattress should feel supportive enough to comfortably lay on the very edge, especially if you’re looking to share a queen or full size bed.

3.) Look For A Mattress That Isolates Motion
When a mattress has good motion isolation, you shouldn’t feel or be jolted awake every time your partner gets up in the middle of the night to sneak a late-night snack or to use the bathroom. If you share a bed with a partner, all-foam beds tend to do a better job than hybrid mattresses at isolating motion since they do not have any bounce from coils.

Protecting Your Online Accounts from Credential Stuffing Threats

Image by Pete Linforth from Pixabay

When the holidays draw near, you can be sure cyber threats are not far behind, one of them being “Credential Stuffing,” which has emerged as a leading cyber threat against your financial, retail, social media and email accounts.

“Credential Stuffing” is a method used by cybercriminals to try to gain unauthorized access to your digital accounts. By using lists of stolen user names and passwords from previous data breaches, cybercriminals randomly attempt to log into websites and social media accounts in the hopes that individuals will set up those same user names and passwords for some of their other online accounts.

This threat is real and it is on the rise. It works because many people do not follow best practices when creating login credentials.

You can minimize your risk of becoming a victim of “Credential Stuffing” by doing the following:

·       Choose different user IDs and strong passwords for your online accounts.
·       Change your passwords regularly.
·       Never reuse IDs or passwords across your online accounts.
·       Don’t use your email address as your user ID.
·       Avoid using easy, guessable passwords; try substituting special characters or numbers for certain letters.
·       Never utilize your Facebook login to access financial websites.
·       Never use the same password for your online and social media accounts.
·       Never respond to phone, email or text requests for personal or confidential information.

Serve justice. Discover a secret. Find his daughter. Repay betrayal.
Jack Steel trains for the impossible, and it looks like it found him.
On a black op to neutralize terrorists, elite specialist Steel puts honor and integrity ahead of orders when he spares a monk. He just never expected his decision to put crosshairs on his back.

Hunted by a twisted killer, a vengeful billionaire, and the highest levels of government, Steel races to discover who’s behind a conspiracy that will decide the fate of two countries—and why one monk is the key to it all.

Aching from a missing daughter, Steel finds it easy to fall for Christie, a beautiful counter-terrorism analyst who offers to help. But he isn’t sure he can trust anyone.

To have a chance at love and a new life, and to serve justice, Steel just needs to stay one step ahead of a bullet…

*****

Revenge. Love. Family.

To protect their families, Jack Steel and Christie Thorton must become assassins.

Deadly Blackhood Ops specialist Jack Steel has moved on from his bloody past, but his past won’t let him go. He has it all; his partner Christie, his daughter Rachel, a protection agency he’s proud of, and his head on straight.

But it’s all torn apart when a madman blackmails him and Christy. Their skills are pushed to the limit as they are forced to become assassins to save those they love. The Mexican cartel, terrorists, and people from Steel’s past force them into a non-stop fight that they can’t walk away from.

To protect his country, and everyone important to him, Steel will be forced to trust the very people he swore to kill.

And he might have to walk away from those he loves…

Read an Excerpt from Book 1: Steel Force

The sounds became louder. Christie resisted the urge to sit up. Eighteen inches long, the stunbrella gave her a four-foot reach. But since the rocks rose a foot and a half above her, even if the man stood a foot away from them she might not be able to angle her arm to strike him.

A whimper was trapped in her throat. She didn’t want to die like this. In the middle of the woods, cold, wet, dirty. Injured like a sick animal. Not even knowing why. All alone.

The noise stopped.

She sensed he was close. From her earlier glimpse she guessed five-foot-eight, one-seventy pounds, mid-forties. Small for a Hawaiian. He might be easy to knock down.

Her choice was to either sit up and try to strike him or remain motionless for him to come closer. Unable to guess which was better, she didn’t move. Her lips twisted when the man’s dark-skinned face appeared above the rocks near her feet. Too far from her motionless arm. As he looked down at her, the barrel of his gun swung into view.

When You Break the Girlfriend Code by Miss Know It All

Miss Know It All

The girlfriend code is an unwritten and often unspoken set of guidelines/morals that exist between a woman and her best friends. They are the commandments that outline the acceptable and unacceptable behaviors of a good and lasting relationship. Whether the rules are implicit or explicit, they can make or break a friendship.

Of course, there are loads of codes that best friends follow, but we are only going to focus on one. What happens when your best girlfriend, (we'll call her Suzy) kicks her boyfriend, whom she's been dating for six weeks, to the curb because he is too nice? She wants a man who has a hard-hitting manner, but several months later her best friend, (we'll call her Beatrice) meets him at an event and he asks her out on a date. Beatrice decides to ask Suzy if it would be okay to date her ex.

Well, Suzy makes it very clear that if Beatrice goes out with her ex, their friendship is over and emphasizes it's a Girl Code and the ex is off-limits. Of course, Beatrice is unhappy because she likes this man because he is decent, kind, and compassionate. Beatrice is now facing a dilemma and is questioning whether she should date the guy and say nothing to Suzy who is now in a relationship or should she honor the girlfriend code and tell him no.

My view is if Beatrice wants to date him, she should. After all, he's Suzy's ex, and she is in another relationship and has no right to tell Beatrice not to date him. It is none of her business what goes on between her ex and Beatrice. Suzy has no control or rights over her ex who is free to date whomever he pleases.  But then that is my opinion.

I have never been in this type of situation. My question is how would you react if your best friend wanted to date your ex? Or what advice would you give Beatrice? Please share your comments below.

Are Women Opened to Dating a Gay/Bisexual Man? By Miss Know It All

Miss Know It All
I don’t know if it’s a stigma now, but women have been dating gay/bisexual men since the beginning of time. I know of someone who dated and married a gay/bisexual man back in the late 50s. And everyone knew about his lifestyle, including his mate. Of course back then people didn’t make a public announcement about their sexual orientation, but with the onset of social media, everybody’s business seems to be an open book. I am not into sharing, so I would never knowingly marry a gay/bisexual man.  And there are other important issues at play here, which the books Broken and Broken Hearted 2: Secrets Revealed by Charlotte Marshall-Murray touch on.

So, my question is: Would you knowingly or have you ever dated or married a gay/bisexual man and if so, what experiences did you face? You can place your anonymous comments at the end.  You must be over 18 years of age or the legal age in the country where you reside. Thank you.

Tips on Planning a Memorable Trip

There are over seven billion people in the world and one way to get to know and understand the various cultures that make up the planet is to travel. It doesn’t necessarily mean you have to trek to every corner of the globe. If you can take a trip around the world, that’s fantastic. But you don’t have to be rich to plan a memorable trip. You can choose to travel domestically or internationally. And you will want to get the most from your trip without going bankrupt.

Decide how much of a budget you have and stick with it. Select a good travel agent, or if you have the inclination and time, you can plan your own tour; there are many travel sites online that offer some great package deals. If you are traveling domestically, consider driving or seeing the country on a bus or train. If traveling abroad, check airline promotional fares, and avoid traveling during peak periods such as July, August, and December. If you’re not into flying, there are cruise lines that offer great money-saving incentives, and you’ll get to meet new people and possibly form lasting friendships.

You can take shorter trips if you are press for time or money, but if you don’t like traveling alone, you can join a travel club.

Lastly, wherever you travel, whether it’s domestically or internationally, try to stay and eat where locals live and eat. You will not only learn about their traditions, but they will learn more about your way of life.
