The year is the very near future. The intention of this “Final Notice,” as it is called, is to allow people to get their affairs in order and reach out to loved ones before it’s too late. But when those notified have easy access to a gun, the result is sometimes lethal for more than just the watch-owner.
These are the stories of several people who receive their Final Notice and their very different reactions ... including a desire to get revenge with impunity. They range from an 89-year-old resident in a retirement home to a U.S. Senator...from a benevolent widow to a crass tycoon to a noted climate change scientist.
But in this fresh, fast-paced page-turner, their stories are all set against the all-too-recognizable backdrop of a guns-gone-wild America, and the relentless push by the NRA and their surrogate politicians to make guns even easier to acquire.
There is plenty of dark humor and political satire in FINAL NOTICE, as well as touching scenes and outright suspense. So expect to laugh out loud, dry some tears, and bite your nails (not necessarily in that order).

About the Author:
This is only half the story. (Van is notoriously modest.) The author was Director of International Marketing with TWA, and an International Management Consultant – taking him behind the closed doors of boardrooms and executive offices around the world. He knows how business works, which gives the slightly “sci-fi” premise of Final Notice a realistic feel. Moreover, his two careers led him to live abroad for much of his life. After growing up in New Jersey and Florida, where he never thought much further than the length of a football field, and going to college in New Mexico, he wound up living in England, Scotland and France, travelling frequently to the Middle East and Asia. He even spent a year living in India. And his first-hand experience with – and respect for – other cultures is apparent in this book.
“Final Notice is meant to highlight, my concerns with America’s handling of three important issues: gun control (not anti-gun), ageism and the importance of immigration. The book won’t fix these issues, but there are a number of great organizations with even greater people working on our behalf to right these wrongs. This guide will help you to understand and select
the document that will best meet your particular needs. Of course, when
planning to execute any legal document, it is a good idea to consult an
attorney.
Personal Finance
Check Stop Payment - request to a
bank not to honor a particular check.
Lost Credit Card Notice - letter to a
Credit Card Company from the cardholder requesting the halt in credit.
Promissory Note - a promise to
pay a principal sum plus interest.
Request for Credit Report - a letter to
reporting agency for full and complete disclosure of credit file.
Request Under Freedom of Information - letter to any
government agency that may keep files on individuals.
Estate Planning Documents
Codicil - an amendment to an original Will that
changes or modifies a Will.
Last Will and Testament - a legal
document that sets forth the wishes of the testator after his or her death.
This document distributes the property of the testator and appoints
representatives to administer the estate.
Organ Donation - a document
that specifies the wishes of an organ donor.
Premarital Agreement - a written
contract between intended spouses, which provides for the division of property,
income, and responsibilities to each other and their child or children should
the marriage ends in divorce or other means.
Revocable Living Trust - a trust
established while alive also known as an “inter vivos” trust that can be
revoked.
Power Of Attorney Documents
General Power Of Attorney - an instrument
authorizing one person to act on behalf of another, usually in signing legal
documents and in making legal decisions.
POA (Power of Attorney) Delegating Parental
Authority - appoints a custodian for a minor child or children and
specifies custodian’s powers.
Revocation of Power Attorney - a notarized
statement by principal rescinding appointment of power of attorney.
Specific Power of Attorney - appoints an
attorney-in-fact to perform a specific action on behalf of the grantor.
Real Estate Documents
Claim Of Lien - notifies third
parties of a monetary interest in property where work was performed.
Commercial Lease - an agreement
to rent commercial property.
Demand For Rent - a document
designed to give a tenant a final opportunity to pay overdue rents before the
landlord may commence eviction proceedings.
Discharge Of Mortgage - a mortgage
holder’s release of the mortgagor.
Mortgage Deed - a borrower
gives mortgage covenants to the lender in consideration of a loan.
Offer To Purchase Real Estate - a document
used when a buyer is presenting an offer to purchase real estate from a seller.
Quitclaim Deed - a document
which transfers title to real estate.
Residential Lease - an agreement
to rent residential property.
Sublease - an agreement between tenant,
landlord, and subtenant to sublet premises currently under lease to a tenant
that retains tenant’s liability.
Waiver Of Lien - lien holder
releases all rights to claim any liens for work done or materials furnished.
Warranty Deed - land conveyed
with warranty covenants providing assurance of title.

About Goddess Fish Promotions
Goddess Fish Promotions was established October 14, 2008. Why? Well, when Marianne became a published author and got her the first taste of trying to promote a book on a budget, there was only one other virtual book tour company in place at the time, and their fees were simply too high for a small press author. After coordinating and running her own tour, she knew other authors could use the same service for a reasonable price. Thus, Goddess Fish Promotions was born.
Because both Judy and Marianne were authors and editors prior to running Goddess Fish Promotions, they approach the business with a unique point of view, and treat their clients how they would expect to be treated.

Judy Thomas -- The Goddess
Judy has a college degree in English and she’s worked in retail, education, at her local library as well as an editor for a small press and for the now defunct ShadowKeep Ezine. She’s also a published author so can see things from both sides of the fence. In 2013, she “retired” and now spends her days helping authors make their dream come true—as well as working as much as she can with her local theater group.
Marianne Arkins - Fish
Grammar freak and coffee lover, Marianne wrote her first novel at ten years old, built her first commercial website in 2000, and published for the first time in 2006. She worked as a professional editor for just over a year, and knows what it’s like to write, edit and promote a book on a budget.

Later, Nicole would ponder the truth and its illusive nature. She’d realize how many lies people would tell to protect themselves from it. On this bright day in mid-March, Nicole stepped into the United Terminal at LAX and encountered a situation she could hardly believe. It was as if she’d slipped back in time to the previous year when the media was stalking her. This morning, they were massed in a corner of baggage claim. After the initial shock of seeing them, she noticed they weren’t looking in her direction, hadn’t noticed her at all. They were waiting for someone else, someone they expected to come down the escalator from the arrival gates.

In addition to her writing career, she was communications director for political affairs for ARCO.
