Foods That Can Enhance Your Sex Life

With the holidays approaching, sex may or may not be the last act on your mind when shopping for gifts and planning festive dinners. It is a fact that certain foods can lead to a happy sex life. However, no two bodies are the same, so each partner may have different results when engaging in sex.

So, let us get this ball rolling, no pun intended, and lists the foods to eat before engaging in sex.

Avocado
- This creamy green fruit is loaded with heart-healthy fats and fiber that can deliver lasting energy in the bedroom. Avocado also has vitamin B6, which experts say can play a part to ease PMS symptoms like fatigue, bloating, and crankiness. All of that might help make it easier for women to get into a romantic mood. In Mexico, the fruit is considered an aphrodisiac. An old Aztec legend describes how young and beautiful maidens were kept in their rooms for protection during the height of the avocado season.

Chocolate - This is a no-brainer. Chocolate and romance go hand-in-hand. This sweet treat is linked with the release of serotonin, a hormone that encourages feelings of happiness and well-being. The mood boost that chocolate can bring may raise your sex drive, too. This indulgence also has many phenylethylamines, a brain chemical associated with lust and love.

Coffee or Tea
- These drinks deliver a dose of caffeine, which perks up your nervous system and help men perform better in the bedroom. Caffeine may lower your chances of erectile dysfunction, also. Coffee and tea also give you antioxidants that can help keep you healthy. Omit it close to bedtime. It could interfere with your sleep.

Fatty Fish
- Fish like salmon, sardines, and mackerel have plenty of omega-3s. These healthy fats ease inflammation in your body. That can help your sexual health.  If you are not a fan of seafood, you can also get omega-3s in flaxseed, chia seeds, and walnuts.

Maca - Native to the Peruvian mountains, the maca plant has been used for centuries to boost fertility. Today, research suggests that its root can improve sexual desire. Phytonutrients in the plant may raise sperm count and sexual function as well. Maca root is often sold as a powder. It has a nutty, earthy flavor. You can add it to your yogurt, smoothies, salads, soups, or baked goods.

Oysters
- are loaded with zinc, a mineral, which helps the body make the hormone testosterone and plays a role in your mood and sex drive. Zinc may also help men make more sperm. It might also help those sperm move better. If you are not a fan of shellfish, you can load up on other foods that are high in zinc, namely beef, pork, fortified cereal, pumpkin seeds, cashews, and yogurt.

Pomegranates - Throughout history, this fruit was a symbol of fertility and a sex enhancer. There may be some truths to these tales. Experts say that drinking pomegranate juice can boost your mood, improve your blood flow, and raise your testosterone levels. Those are all things that can turn up the flames in the bedroom.

Spinach - Not seen as a sexy vegetable, who knew this leafy green vegetable is a sex pick-me-up. However, it can increase your sex drive in many ways. Spinach is rich in magnesium, a mineral that can boost your testosterone. It also has iron, which can help desire, arousal, orgasm, and sexual satisfaction, particularly in women.

Strawberries
- Dipped in chocolate or topped with whipped cream, strawberries are a romantic favorite. They are high in vitamin C, which may help pep up your sex drive, boost blood flow, and ease stress and anxiety. It also helps your body release more of something called oxytocin, known as the “love” hormone because of its link to sexual arousal and orgasm.

Watermelon
- This juicy fruit serves up plenty of an amino acid called citrulline. Your body turns it into arginine, another amino acid that helps relax your blood vessels. That can get the blood pumping in your sex organs in the same way Viagra works to treat erectile dysfunction.

Eat Your Way to a Healthy Immune System

With the onset of COVID-19, the flu, and the common cold, our immune system will need all the help it can get. While healthy foods will not necessarily prevent colds and other illnesses, a proper diet is crucial to maintaining a strong immune system. Give yourself – and your taste buds – a boost with these nutritious, delicious foods:

·   Button mushrooms: Enjoy them raw or cooked for immune-boosting selenium, riboflavin, and niacin.

·   Yogurt: The probiotics in yogurt can help ease the severity of colds. Make sure the label says, “live and active cultures.”

·   Spinach: Eat raw or lightly cooked spinach for maximum benefits including folate (folic acid) and Vitamin C.

·   Sweet potatoes: These contain one of the richest natural sources of beta-carotene, which your body converts into Vitamin A to support your immune system and gut health.

·   Broccoli: Phytochemicals in broccoli are great for the immune system so serve up a healthy portion anyway you like it – raw, roasted, or steamed.

·   Garlic: It packs so many flavors and that is not all. Some studies have shown that eating garlic can reduce the frequency and duration of colds.

·   Ginger: Add fresh ginger to stir-fries for a spicy kick, and because it is a great source of antioxidants.

·   Red peppers: Citrus fruits are known for their Vitamin C, but red peppers actually contain about 3 times more Vitamin C than oranges, and Acerola cherries are extremely high in Vitamin C.

·   Chicken soup: That old saying about chicken soup turns out to be true. If you do have a cold, a nice hot bowl of it can help ease your symptoms and get you on the road to recovery faster.

Quick and Easy Chili

As the temperatures start to drop, you will need warming, crowd-pleasing recipes that are fast and easy to prepare. Chili is a great option. You can season it to your liking and add or substitute ingredients to suit your tastes.

Ingredients

1 pound chopped beef, chicken, or turkey

1 large chopped onion

1 chopped green or red pepper (optional)

1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

1 can red or pink beans

1 can chopped tomatoes or tomato sauce

Chili powder

Cumin

Oregano

Salt

Pepper

Directions

Saut̩ your choice of chopped meat over medium heat until brown, seasoning it with salt, pepper, and chili powder to taste. Stir in the chopped onion and pepper, and cook until the onions turn translucent. Add the can of beans with liquid. Let simmer for 2 minutes, uncovered. Add tomato sauce or chopped tomatoes with juice. Simmer uncovered, 5-7 minutes, or until desired consistency Рnot too dry but with just enough liquid to be saucy, but not soupy. Add more chili powder, cumin, oregano, and salt and pepper to taste. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes. Serve over rice, couscous, or noodles.
